In June 2014 the Richmond Village Association initiated planning for Richmond’s 200th Anniversary.
Over the course of 2014 and 2015 a unified committee of local community organizations, along with other interested individuals, met to brainstorm ideas for events in 2018 and how to obtain the necessary resources.
Each of the organizations involved has a long history in our village and they are made up of mostly volunteers who are passionate about Richmond’s past, present and future:
- The Richmond Fair (Richmond Agricultural Society)
- Richmond Kiwanis Club
- Richmond Legion
- Richmond Lions
- Goulbourn Museum
- Goulbourn Township Historical Society
- 100th Regiment Historical Society
- Richmond Village Association
In the fall of 2015 it was agreed that Cydney Green would play a leadership role coordinating the work of the committee. Cydney grew up in Richmond and is a successful local Real Estate Broker. Cydney brings to the committee others who, along with her, organized Richmond’s 175th anniversary celebrations in 1993.
As we get closer to 2018 we will need more volunteers to help make the celebrations for Richmond’s 200th Anniversary a reality. We will post here any specific help we may need.
